Ao Nang Beach
Introduction
The Ao Nang Beach, Krabi is one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand. It’s also a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, thanks to its crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches.
The Ao Nang Beach
Ao Nang Beach is on the eastern shore of the Andaman Sea and is popular with tourists from Europe, Japan and Korea. The beach is a long stretch of sand lined with hotels and restaurants where you can enjoy a drink or meal while looking out over the ocean. It’s quite busy here because it’s one of Thailand’s most popular beaches for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving due to its clear waters and coral reefs just offshore (there are also some amazing caves nearby).
How to get to Ao Nang Beach
If you’re looking to get to Ao Nang Beach, there are several options that will get you there.
- By plane: The most efficient way is by plane. Krabi Airport is only 30 minutes away from Ao Nang and has direct flights from Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai (among others). Once you land in Krabi Airport, simply take a taxi or grab an Uber and tell them where your hotel is located; they’ll know exactly which one it is because there aren’t many hotels in Ao Nang!
- By train: If you’re coming from Bangkok or Chiang Mai, then taking a train might be the best option for getting here. Trains run daily on this route with some arriving late at night so make sure that if possible try not book too late of an arrival time before taking off work on Friday afternoon/evening so that when we do arrive at our destination we won’t have much trouble finding somewhere comfortable where we can rest after such long trip (especially if traveling with kids).
Learn about one of the most popular beaches in Thailand
Ao Nang Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Thailand. It’s located just north of Krabi Town and has a population of about 10,000 people.
The best way to get there is by car or bus; however, if you don’t have either one available you can also take a taxi or tuk-tuk from Krabi Town which will cost around 500 baht ($15 USD) for one way trip with about 10 minutes travel time each way depending on traffic conditions.
There are many attractions within walking distance from Ao Nang including shops selling souvenirs such as clothes, jewelry and artwork made by local artists as well as restaurants offering Thai food at reasonable prices along with Western cuisine at higher prices if desired but still reasonable given how expensive things tend to be outside Thailand compared with what locals pay here every day due largely because tourism makes up such an important part of our economy so prices tend not only reflect this fact but also cater specifically towards foreign visitors who might prefer something more familiar than traditional Thai food sometimes tastes like when eaten regularly over time.”

The beach itself has shallow waters, making it ideal for families with kids who want to swim in safe conditions and enjoy some sunbathing on soft sand beaches. The area around Ao Nang has some great restaurants and cafes that serve delicious Thai food at affordable prices (and free wifi!).
If you’re interested in diving or snorkeling, then this beach offers plenty of options: there are many dive shops nearby where you can rent equipment or take lessons; independent tours are also available if you prefer not working with someone else’s schedule or group size (but keep in mind that they’ll cost more).
Things to do
Ao Nang Beach is a great place to spend the day. There are many things you can do, but here are some of our favorites:
- Go snorkeling and/or diving. You can rent equipment at one of the many shops along the beach or take lessons from an instructor. The waters around Ao Nang are home to many species of tropical fish and coral reefs that are perfect for exploring!
- Swim in the ocean–it’s warm enough year-round! Just be careful not to step on any sea urchins or jellyfish (if you see one floating around). If you’re lucky, you might even see some dolphins swimming by!
- Walk along Ao Nang’s long stretch of white sand–you’ll find plenty of shade under palm trees if it gets too hot out there during midday hours. This is also where vendors set up shop selling everything from souvenirs like T-shirts to snacks like fresh coconuts; have some fun shopping while taking in views across Krabi Bay towards Phi Phi Island just off shoreline.”
